April 20, 2010 - Smart911 Completes Comprehensive Review by APCO and NENASmart911, a service of Rave Mobile Safety, completed a comprehensive operational process review by members of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) (www.nena.org) and the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International (www.apcointl.org). Recognizing the value of the additional data provided by Smart911 to first responders, the review identified key best practices, operational processes training and support procedures for participating Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). "Rave Mobile Safety's diligence to work with the emergency services community to identify national best practices on the use of supplemental and additional data is greatly appreciated by NENA. Rave provided a model example for using the operational review process," said Brian Fontes, NENA's CEO. "This initiative is an excellent example of how private industry and public safety can partner to enhance 9-1-1 in times of need." "APCO is dedicated to public safety communications and as such is always pleased to offer our experience, guidance and best practices to private sector companies to improve the value of their product offering to our over 15,000 members. The Smart911 operational review is an example of how we can assist in evolving an offering to that end," stated Richard Mirgon, president of APCO. Steve Wisely, director of Communications Center and 9-1-1 Services for APCO continued, "Smart911 provides a valuable set of capabilities and we were happy to be able to contribute to the developmental process." |
